It was a cheeky jab at Apple that got the pulses racing across the internet with the Pixel 10 ad from Google. The current target is Apple Intelligence-an AI that Apple seemingly has been working on and unveiled it with great hype only to gather mixed reactions. Google kept its witty side up to point out, in messages it sees fitting, what it believes is Apple's slow pace in the AI race.

Black background with "Google" on the left, "Pixel 10" on the right, and a sleek silver curve. Logo "OKAY.NG" in top left corner.
Google’s Pixel 10 ad boldly showcases the device’s sleek design while taking a clever jab at Apple’s delayed AI rollout. With the tagline “Ask more of your phone,” it positions Pixel as the smarter, ready-now alternative.

The ad starts with dramatic, Apple-like voicing introducing the "Apple Intelligence" in that exaggerated, too-serious tone. But, in just a few seconds, the Pixel 10 interrupts the narrative, showing off capabilities of real-time AI right now available on such devices-Magic Editor photo-editing, on-device summarization, AI call-screening, and contextual voice assistance. The message is clear: Apple is talking of intelligence, while Google is delivering it.

Besides ridiculing the naming convention in Apple's case, this clever piece of marketing parrots an increasing critique that Apple, despite the innovation brand, is catching up in the AI space while Google has had for a long time integration of AI into its ecosystem, with the Pixel series being the shining example of what AI can do when tightly ingrained in the hardware and software.

Another distinguishing factor is its tone. Rather than aggressive, it is witty and self-consciously makes fun of techies who are already acquainted with the current state of mobile innovations. It plays off against the historically polished branding of Apple in a light-hearted competition, positioning the Pixel 10 as the cleverer, faster, and more AI-ready alternative.

With AI efforts ramping up in both companies, the ad is more integral to shape public perceptions than merely a single battle. Google wants its image developed as not just a search engine behemoth but one leading the way toward consumer AI experiences. By mocking the unveiling of Apple and showing off features that consumers can touch or perceive, Google insists that its AI is not just intelligent, but also very useful.

Whether you back Pixel or iPhone, this ad only serves to stir the pot more of whose future is techier anyway. If anything, it could be a case in the court that in AI, actions, and ads speak louder than keynotes.
