After an illustrious journey spanning over 25 years, Sandeep Mehrotra, an Indian television advertising bigwig, has quit as Head of Ad Sales at Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI). He stepped down, say sources, owing to personal reasons.

Mehrotra was instrumental in the growth of Sony and has been a witness and participant in the larger transformation of SPNI into one of the most sought-after media powerhouses in the country. Thus far, his strategic vision and depth of understanding regarding the advertising ecosystem have contributed in no small way to revenue generation, advertiser relationship building, and strengthening Sony’s presence and profile in the marketplace across genres.

With his exit, a chapter closes for the network. Sources within the industry say his mentorship and leadership have shaped the organization, permeating the very fabric of many young professionals across the advertising and media landscape.

While Sony Pictures Networks India has yet to find a successor, the news of his departure has already started conversations across the industry regarding potential changes to the company’s approach to sales and strategy. With 25 years of service behind him, Sandeep Mehrotra will be remembered in the annals of the Indian media and advertising industry as a visionary and transformative leader
