We Thought Storytelling Was Just Writing — Until It Built Us a Brand

When we started UnscriptedVani, we thought we were just going to “write stories.”
That was the goal. That was the plan. And honestly, that was the limit of our imagination at the time.

But a few weeks in, we realised something wild: storytelling isn’t just writing. It’s marketing. It’s research. It’s branding. It’s strategy. It’s connection. It’s everything.
Storytelling built UnscriptedVani before we even realised we were building something.
We weren’t marketers. We were listeners.
We didn’t have a content calendar when we began. What we had were instincts and conversations. We’d speak to founders, read between the lines of their journey, and then find the story that wasn’t being told — the story buried under pitch decks, funding announcements, and headlines.
People started paying attention.
Not because we had the best visuals or the most polished delivery, but because they saw themselves in the stories. The struggle. The pivot. The “I almost quit.” That’s when we knew — storytelling is not a skill. It’s a lens.
Every story became our research.
We weren’t sitting on spreadsheets and graphs to understand the market. We were decoding it through human voices.
A founder from a Tier 2 town talking about access
A bootstrapped creator growing without ads
A woman founder navigating investor bias
Each story showed us where the market was heading, what people were building, and why. That became our way of doing research — not through numbers, but through narratives.
Storytelling taught us to show up.
When you run a content-led platform, the biggest unlock is this: you are what you post.
Our storytelling style evolved — not to chase trends but to build trust. No fake inspiration. No overused buzzwords. Just truth, voice, and a little bit of chaos from our Notion dashboard.
So no, we’re not “just” storytellers.
We’re builders. Researchers. Communicators. Sometimes, therapists (unofficially). And what we’ve learned is — the story is always bigger than the words.
Storytelling built our brand, but more than that, it built our belief.
This is our unscripted truth. And we’re just getting started.
